ON PAIRING BLACK & NAVY

Not only is Blue on Black the title of the infamous 90s chart topper, but it is also a style pairing I happen to love.  Simple combos like a feminine black lace dress or top with an oversized navy blazer, a navy cashmere sweater with black trousers {or a skirt}, or even just a plush navy scarf {oversized of course} with a black leather jacket.  Lovely.   It takes some of the preppy out of navy and softens up an all black ensemble.

SAD NEWS

As many of you know, my fur babies are at the top of my love list.  A year ago, my darling Australian Shepherd was diagnosed with congestive heart failure along with several other degenerative heart conditions.  His doctors were honest about the prognosis, and I knew we only had a year or so left together.  So lovingly, yet  terrified I did everything I could to make sure he felt as well as possible and to make sure he knew how dearly he was loved. Over the past month or so, I knew he was suffering and that his time here was coming to an end. My thoughts were consumed with keeping him comfortable, praying for peace, giving him as much love as humanly possible, etc.  Last week, God decided He wanted Bruschi by His side.  I can’t blame him one bit!  Although I miss my pup terribly, I am relieved that he is running free without pain and I know I will see him again someday.

I believe that all doggies & kitties go to heaven, and like all aspects of my faith, this fills my heart with peace.  He was an angel here in my life, and there is no doubt in my heart that he is wearing his wings well up above…

Hi ladies!  Although my week away felt refreshing, I missed you all as I always do when I step away.  Hubby and I celebrated five years of marriage with a weekend up north (North Conway, NH & a stop in Portland, ME).  The main objective was to relax and take a break from our crazy house {insert goofy emoji} so we didn’t really have an itinerary other than a big up hill hike which was an awesome workout!  We ate and drank (too much) and now I’m on a detox mission!

Oh, and I have a new recipe to recreate. We stopped at a place called The Corner Room in Portland and I had one of the best lunches of my life. I did capture it on camera and plan to share it with you this week, and maybe even a foodie Friday post once I get my version perfected.  I started off with an arugula & beet salad, and my main course was a fresh kale & pepita pesto with roasted cauliflower served over a bit of homemade pasta. Ah-mazing!

At this point in my life, I crave simplicity & clarity more than anything else. Taking a few days to relax certainly helps highlight what needs to be adjusted in order to achieve my goals in simplifying my life, my wardrobe and my diet.  I raise my glass of vino rosso to being intentional about the journey towards my best self.  I hope you’ll join me…
