This alpaca crew checks all the “perfect sweater” boxes. So soft. Slightly oversized. Looks fabulous with everything. Beautiful colors. I adore my three so much that I plan to purchase another color this winter if Everlane restocks, or makes some new shades. Given my level of devotion to this ever-so-cozy knit, I thought it was only fair that I share some thoughts about it with you all.
In my experience, these sweaters get even softer as they are laundered more. I use the laundress wool & cashmere shampoo, and then simply toss into my washer (inside a mesh laundry bag to prevent snags) on the hand wash wool COLD setting. Then I always lay them flat to dry. All three of mine have held up beautifully with appropriate TLC. My pink one, I’ve had for two winters, and the almond & mustard ones I purchased last winter. They have all been washed multiple times.
I purchased size medium to allow for minor shrinkage with first washing (normal with wool, cashmere, alpaca). They were a little big before washing but now they are a perfect boyfriend fit! My issue is always with sleeve length… sleeves are often not long enough unless I buy mens… but these are perfect in size medium!
One thing that is definitely worth mentioning (in the spirit of complete honesty) is that I would not wear this sweater if you are hanging at home with your doggies & kitty cats. This is something I do not do…ever. I assure you, the sweater would get snagged. At the same time, though, the Everlane alpaca crew is epic in terms of comfort, plushness, quality and versatility. Like a classic cashmere crew, this is one of those pieces you can throw on with denim, trousers, a skirt, over a slip dress… even with chic lounge pants!
My rules of thumb are launder with care, and keep away from the paws!
